I found an interesting video on YouTube yesterday while searching for baby related videos. It’s a trailer for a new video game on Nintendo DS titled My Little Baby that allows you to raise a virtual baby. From the trailer it seems there are a variety of real world activities you can take part in, when it comes to raising a baby.

“My Little Baby is a family-friendly game for the Nintendo DS that gives players the opportunity to raise a baby – all without the real-world messes, sleepless nights, or “terrible two’s.” Players start by creating virtual parents, whose unique characteristics – eye color, hair color, skin tone, etc.

Anyway, I thought this was interesting. Not sure what to make of it and I’m also not sure what audience this would appeal to. Since its on the DS, one would assume it would be for a failry younger audience.

Nothing beats the real thing. This could be a great learning tool…especially for men :0)

I don’t know how to take this one
This game definitely should not target younger audience, however if it does then it is sending and wrong message.
As a father I would never buy this game for my girls.

Then again I don’t see that any grown up or teenager would like to play this game.
Honestly I don’t see that this one will be a successful game.

Seriously? That is whack. I can almost hear the sarcasm seep into the narrator’s voice, “I never thought it would be so much fun!” BARF. This game would totally rock if you can accidentally stab your kid in the eye with a spoon and raise it blind. Or maybe, is there an option to raise a kid with autism? Why have a game that even crackheads can beat? I’m going to go ahead and guess that if a kid has parents with enough money for a DS and games like this, that whatever bastard kid they have will be just fine.

PS. I think it would be more fun for the younger generation to actually make whoopie instead of playing this game.

As a new father, I would not buy this for my kid. If they made it more realistic and made you have sleepless nights, poop smells, and blood curling screams yes it would be a good training tool.

In till then go let your kids play outside and enjoy the world instead of being glued to some kind of gaming console.

I agree with both sides..It may send the wrong message to the younger audience and it may not. But, how is it totally different from parents who buy their daughters baby dolls with the whole kit, including diapers, change of clothes and etc…?

I agree with Sasha. It’s just a game and no different from buying your daughter a doll or a little girl playing with a doll that has diapers and a bottle. Same concept. No Harm, everyone calm down.
